Eris - Make way for functional taps
Functionality in the home is in the spotlight. This applies to the fittings in the kitchen or utility room. The Danish company Damixa has designed the Eris tap that can also sprinkle.
Salad can be washed in the large kitchen sink, and the children’s boots or the dog’s paws can be cleaned quickly. It is Damixa that is behind the Eris tap, where functionality has been in the spotlight during the development of the Danish designed product. By pulling at the lowermost part of the tap’s nozzle a 50 cm long hose appears; and by pushing a button the tap changes from being an ordinary tap to a tap that can also sprinkle.
‘The kitchen is about to change from being a show area in the home to having a greater focus on the functional aspect of it. This turning point made us attach greater importance to functionality and practicability. We are coming back to a form of housekeeping where common sense rules, and where it is trendy to pick fresh vegetables from the garden, clean them and serve them to the family or guests. We use the raw materials we have at hand, instead of throwing things out and buying new ones,’ says futurologist Jesper Bo Jensen from the company Fremforsk.
Suitable for a busy weekday
The Eris fittings are particularly suited to the kitchen or utility rooms that have large or double sinks. The sprinkler function is good for when one does the washing, washes vegetables or fills a bucket with water for example. ‘In the design of Eris we have started with the consumers’ busy weekday, where the kitchen is a natural meeting point for the whole family. Here there is a need for things to work simply; and for the tap to offer freedom not limitations,’ says Berit Linde Jessen, Marketing & Brand Director at Damixa.
Eris has water and waste pipe approved hoses and is supplied as standard with the specific X-change unit that Damixa has devised. The X-change unit will make it extremely easy to change fittings in the future. Once the X-change unit is installed one can change the Damixa fittings in 20 seconds – with just the help of an Allen key.
